Stockport County have made contact with Port Vale assistant manager Geoff Horsfield about his availability, reports BBC Radio Stoke.It is understood Stockport could ask the 37-year-old to assist with coaching, and play, despite Horsfield retiring at the start of the season.
The former Birmingham, West Brom and Wigan striker was brought in as player-coach by Micky Adams in 2009.
New Vale boss Jim Gannon is understood to want to bring in his own coaches.
