Editor of SCFC Mad, Eytan Halon, introduces himself!
Eytan Halon, strange name, fan of a strange football team, strange person in general, I guess the word “Strange” sums him up.
A County fan who has the relentless ability to shout abuse at the opposition and most Rugby fans in the surrounding area. An amusing sight for all glory hunters to see.
A pupil at the Manchester Grammar School who loves technology (love is an understatement and obsessive suits this purpose a bit more) and can't get enough of it. No wonder his girlfriends walk into his room, see all the tech stuff and walk right out again!
Eytan's Stockport accent sometimes has something to be desired, as his “posh” accent, according to his mates, outweighs his rough roots. Constantly declining the fact that his “posh” accent comes from the South of the country, he maintains that he is a Stopfordian through and through. For someone who is at a top private school, the stupidity of supporting a team like he does is surely wasting his intelligence. Yet, he still maintains that they are the best team to support, and a few threats in the direction of a Manchester City or United fan never did anyone any harm.
At his young age, his attempts to remember the days of the flourishing Brett Angel and the downfall of Andy Kilner often fail, ending up as the laughing stock of the Manchester City fans in particular as their plight is fairing slightly better than the one of Stockport. Only for Eytan to remind these barbaric fans that once upon a time, a team called Manchester City were suffering a humiliating time in the football league. “Oh, it was ages ago,” they say, “we are much better than you”. They are much better than the boys in Royal Blue now, but was it really ages ago? The season of 1998/99 to be precise.
Not to forget, that he lives with a household of Manchester United supporting maniacs, and the anguish of supporting a team 2 divisions below can sometimes be too much. He heads off to his bedroom and gets the anger off his chest by screaming supportive chants at the top of his voice, oh what a poor life!
Saturday is his Sabbath, not just because of his religion, but because something incredible happens at 3.00PM! Yes, you got it! Grandstand on the BBC starts for some true horse racing action. Only kidding! It's Stockport County!
A keen radio presenter and audio technician is what he spends most time on, and of course writing articles for some website called Stockport County Mad.
So, I shall leave you with a little quote that Eytan regularly uses as an excuse:
"It may have been going wide, but nevertheless it was a great shot on target" – Terry Venables
