Assistant boss rues missed opportunities

ALTHOUGH his side were held to a goalless draw at home against struggling Yeovil Town, Stockport assistant boss Peter Ward was at least pleased to have halted a run of three straight defeats.
The hosts created the lion's share of the goal-scoring opportunities on Saturday at Edgeley Park, but Glovers' 'keeper Chris Weale was in inspired form and teenager Josh Thompson saw a second-half header hit the crossbar.
After manager Jim Gannon once again declined to speak to the press after the weekend game, Ward said: "
We had some good chances to score, but their keeper had a good game.
"Maybe we should have been a bit more clinical, but I suppose it was good for us to have secured a clean sheet.
"It would have been nice to have got the win, but getting a point at least stops the rot."
