As the recent atrocious weather conditions continue, doubt has been cast over Saturday's game away at Swindon
After last night's home tie with Cheltenham fell victim to the sub-zero conditions, County would have been hoping for a quick return to league action this weekend, but officials at Swindon say a lack of heating equipment means a likely postponement this weekend. The early timing of the announcement is somewhat unusual, given that groundstaff have the best part of four days to try and prepare the surface for action, but groundsman Marcus Cassidy said that, should weather forecasts prove accurate, it was a losing battle:
"Given the current forecast, we look to be struggling at the moment. Temperatures aren't going to rise enough for the frost to come out. The pitch is frozen all over and the frost is probably three to four inches deep" he said.
Cassidy added that the club was hoping for a slight mis-calculation on the part of the forecasters and that temperatures would rise slightly to give them a chance of playing the match; postponement would mean Danny Wilson's side have gone three weeks without a match, while County have not played since December 28.
