Stockport travel to Boundary Park to face nearby rivals Oldham
Following a hectic conclusion to the week, including the sale of Anthony Pilkington and the horror injury suffered by Peter Thompson, County will get back to business against Oldham Athletic on Saturday.Stockport were comprehensive winners when the two teams met at Edgeley Park in October. Goals from Paul Turnbull, Peter Thompson and a fine strike from Michael Raynes secured a 3-1 victory after Andy Liddell opened the scoring for the Latics.
Hatters boss Jim Gannon is looking forward greatly to the derby, he said: "Our fans have got great confidence in us again but, while Oldham did have a disappointing result at Hereford, they are an excellent side at home. We're an excellent side away from home though, so with two sets of very passionate fans roaring the teams on, it's got all the makings of a cracking local derby."
County will be without the services of Peter Thompson and Matty McNeil for the game but Dave Mooney has recovered from a knee injury and is expected to play the lone striker role.
A Stockport win would leave the Hatters only one point behind Oldham as the team look to move into the playoff places. However, they will have to overcome a strong Oldham team that includes the likes of Dean Windass and Lee Hughes.
