County will face Bristol Rovers at Edgeley Park on Saturday

Jim Gannon will be without Michael Raynes and Matty McNeil due to injuries as mid-table Bristol Rovers come to Edgeley Park.

Rovers, known as the Pirates, will be keen to take all three points from Gannon's men after the Stockport manager's comments a couple of seasons back in regards to a controversial postponement of their league match at the Memorial Stadium.

Pirates' manager, Paul Trollope, has played down the effect that the comments will have on the match: "It's water under the bridge as far as I'm concerned. Things were said in the past in the heat of the moment by Jim, and people will try to stoke it up again at both ends. We went up that year and they missed out, but since then they've come up as well and they've done well."

Paul Trollope strengthened his side considerably in the summer with the signings of Jeff Hughes (Crystal Palace), Ben Hunt (West Ham), Darryl Duffy (Swansea), Jo Kuffour (Bournemouth) and Richard Langley (Luton Town) and look set to give Stockport a tough game when they meet on Saturday afternoon.

Bristol Rovers currently lie in 14th place in League One but are certain to be targetting the playoffs this season. Ex-County striker Ricky Lambert heads their scoring charts with an impressive 18 league goals. Their joint second top scorers, Jo Kuffour and Chris Lines, have only scored 4 goals each.
