Former club captain Gareth Owen finally secures a move to Port Vale
Port Vale have finally got their man after Gareth Owen's contract at Edgeley Park was cancelled by mutual consent.Owen, who captained County to Wembley glory last season, completed a loan spell at Vale Park earlier in the season and was eager to secure a permanent deal with the League Two outfit.
There were several other clubs interested in securing the centre-back's signature but he was keen to fulfil his verbal promise to The Valiant's manager, Dean Glover.
Stockport signed Gareth Owen from Oldham Athletic, who they play at the weekend, and he made 83 appearances for the Hatters. In his first season at the club, on loan from Oldham, he deservedly won the club's Player of the Season award.
Best of luck Gaz!
