County have taken their transfer window sales to £750,000, with Jimmy McNulty completing a protracted transfer to Brighton

The former Macclesfield defender had been in fine form for County this season and had attracted scouts from a number of Championship clubs; having snubbed a move to Brighton last week, however, he seemed set to stay at the club.

However, news broke of the impending move on Saturday when he was left out of the side that beat Hereford United 4-1 at EP, and his move to the south coast was completed today, with County receiving £150,000 for the former Liverpool trainee.

It is disappointing to lose the impressive defender to another of our League One rivals, so soon after selling Anthony Pilkington to Huddersfield, but in the current financial climate, a club like County simply cannot turn down three-quarters of a million pounds in transfer fees, specially for two players for whom the club paid a combined fee of less than £20,000.

Best of luck to Jimmy Mc as he makes the long trek down to Brighton, but we can only hope he continues his career in League One as County push for the playoffs and the Championship!
