After seemingly having no future at County, former captain Gareth Owen has been recalled from his loan spell at Port Vale

The playoff-winning captain was apparently surplus to requirements earlier in the campaign and was shipped off on loan first to Yeovil, before joining hometown club Port Vale, with a permanent move to the Valiants in the offing in the January sales.

However, Jim Gannon has sensationally recalled the former Oldham defender today, with rumours abounding that the influential Jimmy McNulty could have played his last game for the club, as numerous Championship sides circled.

And with chairman Martin Reid this week commenting that the club may be forced to sell players - and even release manager Gannon should the right offer come in - in order to balance books and secure the future of the club, it may come as little surprise if McNulty, who has been in fantastic form all season, is on his way out.
