Dicker moves on without gaffer's knowledge
DISAPPOINTED Stockport boss Jim Gannon has revealed that midfielder Gary Dicker was allowed to move to Brighton on loan on transfer deadline day without his knowledge.
Dicker, a regular in the County squad and a member of the Wembley play-off final winning team last May, moved to the Seagulls on March 26 until the end of the season.
Gannon said: "I was disappointed because on deadline day the club made several non-footballing decisions, they were business decisions.
"The last I was told was that Gary was not going out on loan to Brighton.
"But Brighton offered money so a business decision was made.
"On top of that several other players were unsettled by news suggesting that they were going out on similar deals.
"[Club skipper] Michael Raynes and James Tunnicliffe were reputed to be going to Leeds and MK Dons respectively, news that wasn't channelled through to the manager.
"I wasn't aware of these situations and I'm very disappointed that I wasn't fully informed.
"Gary Dicker was expected to play for us on the Saturday at Bristol Rovers. We expected him here for training on the Thursday so we were surprised when he wasn't here.
"This situation has been symptomatic of what's been going on over the last six months when rushed and short-term decisions have been made without consulting the appropriate members of staff.
"Sometimes the responsibility and authority of certain people has been trampled on, and that's poor practise."
