Jim Gannon is expecting a difficult time over the coming weeks

County seem to have lost some of their momentum that propelled them up to eighth in the table having suffered home defeats by Peterborough and Gillingham. Stockport manager, Jim Gannon, is not expecting an easy time over the coming weeks.

Defeat by Gillingham has meant that the club miss out on a big pay day in the FA Cup Third Round, a blow that could see Stockport needing to sell one of their hottest talents in January.

Gannon knows that he has to restore the morale of the players as they head into a month full of difficult games: "I have to lift not just the players, but probably also the board and the club and try and bring some spirit back. I've got a really tough job, there's a lot of work to do off the pitch and on the training ground. Both financially and tactically there's a lot of work to be done. It's going to be my toughest month at this club in the last three years."

It has been evident over the recent months that the manager has been unhappy with the situation, primarily financial, at the club. Gannon has certainly not been afraid to use the press to put his point across, excessively so in the eyes of some supporters.

Stockport face Yeovil this weekend, and face tough games against Bristol Rovers and Leeds United in the coming weeks. A tough month is ahead and Jim Gannon certainly needs to motivate his youngsters quickly if a play-off push is realistic this season.
