Jim Gannon enjoyed seeing his County team return to winning ways

County's impressive 4-2 victory away at Yeovil Town last weekend was the perfect response to a disappointing previous couple of weeks that had seen Stockport fall to consecutive home defeats against Peterborough and Gillingham.

Goals from Johnny Mullins, Tommy Rowe and Carl Baker set County on their way to a much needed victory which puts the team on the edge of the playoffs. Worries of a County collapse had been quickly brushed aside with this exciting performance by the Stockport youngsters.

Stockport manager Jim Gannon certainly enjoyed the response from his young team: "I certainly got the reaction I was looking for. The first half was the best I have seen for a long time. We picked ourselves up after a tough week and got back to business. The way the first half went we looked like scoring at any time. We had some fantastic chances in the second half and for the whole day we looked threatening."

County needed this confidence boost ahead of a very challenging few weeks in which the team will play Bristol Rovers, Walsall and Leeds United. A good number of points from the upcoming games will give Stockport a real chance of pushing on into the playoffs in the new year.
