Stockport's match at Colchester United has been postponed
Jim Gannon can have a lie-in this weekend with his team no longer in action on Saturday.Referee Mick Thorpe had little choice in calling the game off with obvious areas of standing water on the pitch.
Explaining his decision, Thorpe said: "The pitch is completely unplayable at this time due to waterlogging and there is nothing in the overnight forecast to suggest that the situation will be different by 3pm on Saturday.
"Estimates of -5 degree temperatures will only make things worse and the Football League agreed that an early postponement was the only sensible option."
The match will be re-arranged, although a date has not yet been decided.
