Welsh stopper could return before the end of the season

STOCKPORT'S Welsh under-21 international goalkeeper Owain fon Williams has undergone a successful operation to cure his troublesome shoulder.
Fon Williams went under the surgeon's knife on Saturday to correct the problem that has been causing him discomfort for the last six months, and he will now convalesce at home before teaming up with [County physio] Rodger Wylde next Monday to start his rehabilitation.
Fon Williams said: "My shoulder got worse while I was away with Wales last week, and it was decided that I should have the operation on Saturday.
"The whole joint has been tidied up, including the repair of two torn tendons.
"There was no muscle damage, which is important, and the surgeon was delighted with the way things went which is, obviously, very pleasing.
"I'm back at home now and will be contacting Rodger shortly to talk about my rehab.
"The doctor said I'd be out from anything between three and eight weeks so you never know, I might be back in action before the end of the season."
Meanwhile, despite his absence from the first team at present, fon Williams is once again being linked with a move to Championship big guns Ipswich Town.
They are reported to be preparing a summer swoop for the stopper who joined Stockport on a free transfer from Crewe Alexandra last summer.
