Yet he recovered from his error to produce fine saves to deny John-Joe O'Toole and Kayode Odejayi.
Ablett, whose side travel to Exeter this weekend, told the Manchester Evening News: "Owain is sensitive and was really upset in the dressing room after the game because he thought he'd cost us.
"He is suffering a bit confidence-wise, but I'm more than pleased with Owain. I rate him highly.
"He's disappointed with his mistake but he'll learn from it and move on."
