Out of the cup, propping up the league, and the possibility of losing our star striker, but there is much to be positive about

You'd think with a list like that, Stockport fans would be slipping into a state of depression and much panic. But the passion and effort shown in the last two performances has given much optimism to the County faithful.

The Cup - We may have lost to Brentford, but that is nothing to be ashamed of. Stockport have played with a great spirit in the cup this season, knocking out two tricky teams. Swansea, 2nd in the league above and Hereford, a tricky non-league team who were overcome with ease. Brentford were always going to be a difficult opponent to defeat, flying-high in League 1 and a challenge for any team to overcome. And what a match! At times, a neutral would not know which team was 92nd in the Football League and who was challenging promotion to the Championship. Yes, we lost, but a performance that was certainly worthy of a place in the 4th Round Draw. Jim Gannon certainly seems to have drilled some pride into the team. Pride that they are playing for a club such as Stockport County.

The League - Bottom of the league, and worries about our league status are certainly in the mind of every fan prior to every match. It was only one match, but to bounce back from a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Macclesfield with a spirited 2-2 draw against 5th placed Cheltenham was impressive. Another great effort, but can that be continued throughout the season?

Managerless - Jim Gannon's Blue & White Army as far as I'm concerned. But would more experience be beneficial? I'm sure it would, but Sammy Mcllroy had experience and so did Chris Turner...enough said. Gannon has given the team a sense of pride and that there is no excuse to accept defeat before the match has even started.

Easter to go at Christmas? - He sure would have impressed any scout on Saturday, I wish there was no chance of him leaving, but 30k? That's a bit of a joke, but the club has a history of accepting these sorts of offers. The Trust have promised never to fall foul of such mistakes.

Despite all our troubles, and a slide down the divisions faster than Asafa Powell's 100m world record, I have full confidence in the team that we will retain our league status, and we will return to the good times sometime in the not too far future!
