In the first of a series of articles, Eytan Halon searches the websites of other teams in the division, and reports back on their current situation.

As we all know, Stockport County have had an atrocious season, and are now officially the first team in England to be relegated, not the achievement that this season originally promised.

But let's delve into the league a bit more. In the first article of this kind, I will be looking at the teams chasing promotion to the Coca Cola Championship and a nice load of money to go with it. Who is most likely to be crowned Champion? Runners-up and Play-off winner?

It only makes sense to start at the top, featuring Luton Town.

1. Luton Town - Likely champions

Luton are by far the most likely to be promoted to the Championship as Champions, they are 3 points ahead of Hull with 5 games remaining in the season and with a run-in including MK Dons and Wrexham, it doesn't look as if Luton will be giving up their narrow lead.

The official club website is full of articles on the same topic which is about the fact that promotion is almost secured and how they could be mathematically promoted if they beat Bournemouth depending on results elsewhere.

The level of support is so enormous at the present moment that the final home game against Brentford is sold out!

2. Hull City - Likely runners-up

Hull are odds-on to get promoted this season after opening up a 10 point cushion between themselves and 3rd placed Tranmere.

Everything is looking positive for the club, Ben Burgess is fit after an 11-month battle with his re-occuring knee injury, Peter Taylor was awarded the Manager of the Month for March and the club continues to attract attendances just under 20,000, not to mention that Hull are chasing on the heels of league leaders Luton.

Hull, however, have a considerably more difficult run-in than Luton, and need to win every single game to have a chance of being promoted as champions, this does not look likely with games against Sheffield Wednesday and Brentford ahead.

3. Tranmere Rovers - Certain of a play-off place

Automatic promotion looks out of the question as Tranmere lie 10 points behind on-form Hull City.

A few injuries are affecting the strength of the first team such as David Beresford, Gary Jones and Ryan Taylor and former Sunderland and Republic of Ireland international Jason McAteer who all look to be fit in time for the play-offs.

Their upcoming match against our very own Stockport County seems to be a banker for Tranmere who look to secure their play-off place.
