Eytan Halon manages to interview a rather happy Luton fan on their return to the Championship

I managed to catch an interview with a rather happy Hatters fan (the Luton kind!) and asked him several questions about their successful plight and other things.

-

SCFC Mad: Next season you will be playing Championship football against the likes of Leeds and Leicester, are you confident that you can survive a difficult season against opponents that some have spent a significant time in the Premiership?

LTFC Fan: A lot will depend on what happens with regard to the squad during the close season, we have the basis of a very good squad but we will need to strengthen. I believe that survival is the key over the next couple of seasons whilst the club finds stability after the turbulance of recent years. We are on the verge of announcing the plans for a new stadium and over £18 milion has been put aside to finance the building of the stadium.

If we can survive in the CCC until the new ground is built then we will be in a really strong position to push on. We have seen the sort of momentum a new ground can give clubs with the emergance of clubs such as
Plymouth and Hull over recent seasons.

As for playing the likes of
Leeds and Leicester they used to be everyday fixtures for us and I hope that they will become the norm again.

Luton - on their way to the Championship

SCFC Mad: On deadline day, your club signed Warren Feeney,
Stockport’s top scorer of the season, has he impressed the Luton fans and been worth the small fee paid for him?

LTFC Fan: Feeney has not yet been given the chance to impress yet with just two apperances from the subs bench, the one thing that he has shown he will add to our forward line is pace. He has done well in the past when he has played against us so most Luton fans are aware of what he can do and no offence to Stockport he has scored 17 goals in a struggling team so he must have something about him.

As for the fee it is the most we have spent on a player in a number of years and he is the first player that Mike Newell has ever played a transfer fee for. I believe he has been signed with next season in mind as Rowan Vine who has been fantastic for us is due to return to
Portsmouth at the end of the season.

SCFC Mad: Who has been your player of the season so far?

LTFC Fan: That's a very difficult one to answer. Steve Howard has once again got over 20 goals and has a ratio of a goal every other game in his
Luton career. Ahmet Brkovic has been sensational with 15 goals from midfield. Curtis Davies at 19 has shown that he will play at the highest level and is in my opinion one of the best centre halfs outside the Premiership but in my mind it has to be Mr Luton Town, Kevin Nicholls.

Kevin Nicholls has been the driving force and the inspiration for the team, a player that had been labelled nothing more than a thug by many
Luton fans has shown this season that he really can play football. His discipline has been outstanding and his desire to win is exceptional and he has lifted the players at vital times this season when their heads might have dropped.

SCFC Mad: What are you most looking forward to next season in the Championship?

LTFC Fan: Playing
Watford, but that might not happen if they do not turn their form around. Our derby days are very passionate and they mean a lot to both sets of fans and we have only lost once in our last 15 meetings. Luton fans are currently split on whether they want Watford to stay up or go down, nothing is better than seeing your rivals struggle whilst you are doing well, but god do we look forward to winning at Vicarage Road.

SCFC Mad: Good luck with next season and let's hope that you will succeed in the Coca Cola Championship
